Rozterz Terms of Service

Version
1.1
Status
Draft for review

Agreeing to these terms

These terms are the agreement between you and Rozterz for using Rozterz. You accept them, the Privacy Policy and the Rozterz Rulebook for Dota 2 when you register.

  • Who can join: people aged 18 or over who can make a binding contract under Indian law and haven't been barred from Rozterz.
  • The other documents: the Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data. The Rozterz Rulebook for Dota 2 (RR-D2) governs every Dota 2 tournament on Rozterz. On how a tournament is played, the Rulebook prevails over these terms.
  • Where we are: Rozterz ("we") is based in Hyderabad, India.

This is version 1.1, in effect from [date]. Parts in square brackets are still to be filled in, and a lawyer should review the whole before it is published.

Your account

Each person has one Rozterz account, signed in with codes sent to their email, and is responsible for what happens on it.

  • One account each: don't create a second account, share yours, or sell or hand it to someone else.
  • Signing in: we email you a single-use code each time. Keep your email account secure, and tell us at once at support@rozterz.com if someone else gets into your Rozterz account.
  • True details: your real name and phone number must be your own. Your gamer name must not copy another player or person, or be offensive.
  • Keeping it current: update your details under Edit profile when they change.

Steam, ratings and verification

Every player connects their own Steam account, and Rozterz has the final say on each player's rating on Rozterz.

  • Your own Steam account: connect the one you play on. One Steam account belongs to one Rozterz account, and you play tournaments only on it (RR-D2-3.1). To change it, ask support@rozterz.com.
  • Ratings from your medal: when Steam shows your Dota medal, your Dota MMR is filled in from it, as the middle of the medal's range, and locked.
  • Reported ratings: without a medal you enter your MMR yourself. It must be your honest current MMR, and you can change it only until a medal is found.
  • Verification: Rozterz admins can check and change any rating, and their verified rating is the one Rozterz uses. Each tournament's Organiser verifies MMR for that tournament under RR-D2-3.3.

Tournaments

Each tournament on Rozterz is run by its community's Organising Team under the Rozterz Rulebook, and Rozterz provides the platform.

  • The Rulebook applies: registering for a tournament, bidding at its auction or playing in it is acceptance of the Rozterz Rulebook and that tournament's published settings (RR-D2-1.6).
  • Rulings: the Organiser's decisions are final within the tournament (RR-D2-2.6 and RR-D2-9.5). Rozterz does not overrule them, except where they break the law or these terms.
  • Prizes: a tournament's prize terms, if any, are set by its Organiser and published before registration opens (RR-D2-2.1(c)). The Organiser is responsible for paying them, unless Rozterz says it is. Winners pay any tax due on prizes.
  • No gambling: Rozterz offers no betting or wagering. Betting on any match involving your own team is prohibited (RR-D2-8.2(d)).

Communities

Players can start communities on Rozterz, and Rozterz lists each one once an admin has approved it.

  • Review: a Rozterz admin reads every community before it's listed, and can refuse one, saying why. Rozterz can suspend a listed community that breaks these terms or the law, and restore it.
  • Owners and managers: a community's owner and managers decide who joins, keep its details accurate, can remove members, and create its tournaments. Whoever creates a tournament is its Organiser and runs it. The owner is responsible for the community on Rozterz, sets who its managers are, and can hand it to another member or delete it.
  • Members: you can leave a community at any time.
  • What it shows: a community's name, description and pictures follow the same rules as your own content, below.

Conduct

Play fair, treat people with respect, and use Rozterz only as it is meant to be used. You must not:

  • cheat, smurf, share accounts, ghost, fix matches or collude at an auction (RR-D2-8.2),
  • give false information about your identity, Steam account or MMR,
  • harass, threaten or abuse anyone, or post hate speech or discriminatory content,
  • pretend to be another player, an Organiser or Rozterz,
  • pressure an Organising Team outside the dispute process (RR-D2-8.3),
  • use bots, scrapers or scripts on Rozterz, overload it, or probe its security,
  • get around a ban or suspension, for example with a new account, or
  • use Rozterz to break the law.

Your content

You own the pictures, names and words you add to Rozterz, including a community's, and you let us show them to run the platform.

  • The licence you give us: a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, resize and show your picture, your gamer name and the details of communities you run on Rozterz. It ends when you remove them, except where they already appear in tournament records.
  • What you upload must be yours: only pictures you have the right to use.
  • Not allowed: nudity, violence, hate symbols, other people's personal information, impersonation and advertising.

We can remove content that breaks these terms, and we will tell you when we do.

Third-party services and trademarks

Rozterz relies on services run by others, and it is not part of Valve.

  • Steam: you sign in to Steam under Valve's Steam Subscriber Agreement, which still applies to your Steam account.
  • OpenDota and Eusend: we read Dota medals from OpenDota and send email through Eusend. When they are unavailable, some features, such as filling in your MMR, may not work.
  • Trademarks: Dota 2 and Steam are trademarks of Valve Corporation. Rozterz is not affiliated with or endorsed by Valve. The Dota medal art is Valve's.

Suspension and ending your account

Rozterz can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the law, and you can leave at any time.

  • Suspension or closure: we can suspend or close an account for breaking these terms, breaking the law, or putting other players at risk. We usually warn first, unless the breach is serious, such as cheating or fraud.
  • Tournament penalties are separate: penalties under the Rozterz Rulebook apply only in the community that imposed them, and Rozterz never extends them to other communities (RR-D2-10.7).
  • Appeals: to appeal a suspension or closure by Rozterz, email support@rozterz.com within [30 days], saying why. Someone not involved in the decision reviews it.
  • Leaving: ask support@rozterz.com to delete your account. Your data is then handled as the Privacy Policy describes.

Disclaimers and limits of liability

Rozterz is provided as it is, and our liability is limited as far as the law allows.

  • No guarantee of availability: we work to keep Rozterz running, but it may be unavailable, slow or wrong at times, including when Steam, OpenDota or Eusend are down.
  • Games and rulings: we are not responsible for how games turn out, for Organisers' rulings, or for prizes an Organiser offers.
  • Limit: as far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to ₹[1,000].

Nothing in these terms limits a liability, or takes away a consumer right, that the law does not allow to be limited or removed.

Changes to these terms

Each version of these terms has a number and an effective date, shown at the top. When we make a change that affects your rights, we publish a new version and ask you to accept it before you next play. If you don't accept it, you can stop using Rozterz and ask us to delete your account. A tournament already under way keeps the Rozterz Rulebook version it started with (RR-D2-11.2).

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. If you have a problem with Rozterz, email support@rozterz.com first, and we will try to settle it within [30 days]. If we can't, the courts of Hyderabad, India have jurisdiction, without taking away any right you have to go to a consumer forum.
